re: School Day Program - May 18, 2012 in Sunbury, OH Dear American History Teacher, The Gen. Rosecrans’ Command Headquarters is preparing for its fifth annual Civil War School Day Living History Program and would like to invite your students to come and participate. This year, the school day program will be held on May 18, 2012. There will be two sessions of this program. The first session will begin at 9:00 and end at 11:00 am. The second session will begin at 12:00 pm and run until 2:00 pm. During each session students will move through a series of living history stations. At each station, students will learn from dedicated living historians what life was like in the mid-1800’s from both a military and civilian prospective. Planned stations include: Infantry, Cavalry, Period Crafts, Command Headquarters, British Inspectors, Gen. Rosecrans, and more. Each session will begin with a demonstration firing of a replica Civil War Era Cannon. Because of the constraints of time and so that each class can get maximum benefit from the programs, participation is being limited. Space will be on a first come basis. We are also asking for a $1.00 per student donation. This donation will be used to help pay for a memorial statue of General Rosecrans that is planned for the Sunbury Square. If you would like to bring your students to this event, please fill out the enclosed form and return it to the address listed on the form. If you have any questions about this event, or the Gen. Rosecrans’ Command Headquarters, please feel free to contact me at either: info@rosecransheadquarters.org, or (740) 965-9636 or visit www.rosecransheadquarters.org. Thank you for your time. I hope to see you in Sunbury on May 18, 2012. Your most humble and obedient servant, Richard N. Helwig Executive Officer Gen. Rosecrans’ Command Headquarters
