Surveyor and Cartographer

Rosecrans' experience as a surveyor and cartographer during the time he served in the Army Corps of Engineers was to be a big benefit for him during the war.

Edward Anthony became one of the top manufactures and suppliers for photographic equipment in New York.  Eventually he bought patents of equipment and added them to his line.
They became famous for  stereoscopes.
  In 1862, Edward's brother, Henry T. joined the firm and it became E. & H. T. Anthony and Company.  This photo of Rosecrans was before 1862.
