Minutes of Meeting Held
Thursday, January 28, 2010

Attending:  Rick Helwig – Chairman, Bill Comisford -Secretary, Henry Shaw – Treasurer, Polly Horn, Valerie Hamill, Monte McGowen, Joe Heiberger, Greg Williams, Robert Souder, Hannah Griffith, and Chuck Grape.

Prior to the meeting, Rick gave a presentation on the Civil War photography. 

Also, Stephen Cook asked for the Headquarters help with several events taking place with the Delaware Library Abraham Lincoln Exhibit:

  • March 16-17 – Opening of the exhibit
  • March 21 – Open house between 1 – 5 pm
  • March 27 – Powell Branch of the Library 9 – 5 pm

Unit pledged its support of the programs and will be represented at the various events. 

Chairman’s Report:  Rick gave a “State of the Headquarters." 

Election of officers:  A motion was made to nominate the existing officers: Chairman – Rick Helwig; Vice Chairman – Tom Paul; Secretary – Bill Comisford; and Treasurer – Henry Shaw.  Motion was accepted and slate of officers was approved.

Secretary’s Report:  Bill presented the minutes from the meeting of October 29, 2009.  Minutes were approved and accepted. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Henry Shaw gave the treasurer’s report.  The last fireside chat brought in $365.00.  The dinner theaters were pretty successful: October - $597.90; November - $870.95; and December - $725.00. 

Ladies Aid Society:  Valerie reported on the dinner theater.  Great success.

Activities:  The following activities were discussed:

     Up-Coming Activities:

      ·         January 30th – Statehouse Grande Ball

      ·         February 20th – Fireside Chat

      ·         March 20th – Fireside Chat

      ·         May 14-16, 2010, Sunbury Reenactment.

      ·         August 21 & 22, 2010, Harlem Twp Heritage Day Bicentennial.  

Rosecrans Memorial:  No report, Tom out ill.

Reenactment – Fundraising Committee:  Civil War dinners were discussed and planned, among other items.  Discussed a “fireside chat” series of event held January 16, and planned events for February 20, and March 20.

Demos and Public Presentations:  The following is the schedule of upcoming Living History Presentations:

  ·         February Meeting:       Engineers of the Civil War, Bob Mergel

  ·         March Meeting:           Watches and Time Pieces, Henry Shaw

Next meeting was set for Thursday, February 25th.  Bring a friend!
