FARMERS' LODGE NO. 153, F & A.M., FREDONIA, OHIO

    Farmers' Lodge No. 153 was organized under dispensation issued in 1847 to Brothers Syrene Hall, Timothy Spellman, Bryant Thornhill, Crandall Rosecrans and others, and in 1848 it was granted a charter.

   Dr. Syrene Hall, its first Worshipful Master, was a brother of Sarah Josepha Hall, the poetess and author.  Crandall Rosecrans was the father of General Rosecrans, eminent in his services as a patriotic officer in the Union Army during the Civil War.  Brother Crandall Rosecrans was also the father of Bishop Rosecrans late of Columbus.  . . .
